Getting the holiday groove on!

So its only 8 days until the gift giving begins....hard to believe this year is almost at an end! Where did it go?  It has been a busy one for us.  We have our new baby girl, almost 5 months old, and our little guy has been busy with football and school.  Seriously, this year whizzed by!

But its holiday time and my shopping is almost done!  This is the earliest I think I have ever been close to being done.  Yes...I am usually one of those morons out there like the day before Xmas eve running around like an idiot trying to snatch up last minute gifts.  But this year I actually did what I said I was gonna do and started shopping a bit earlier.  I have to say it feels really nice to be almost done.  Yes, I say ALMOST because I do still have a couple of small things to get, but compared to my norm, that is fantastic!

Our decorations are all up and looking lovely.  Its all cozy and homey in our little bungalow.
Our Tree

I love our little rag-strip garland. I made it a couple of years ago with some jute cord and ripped up pieces of scrap fabric just tied on in a knot.  Its so cute!  Most of our ornaments are homemade or gifts from others.  We love our very "country" tree!

My kiddos are all smiles waiting for Santa.  Well, I should say, my 7-year-old son is still a believer in Santa and this is probably our last year with him for that, and he is super excited!  My 5-month-old daughter of course has no clue yet, but I can't wait to see her face when she gets to rip paper!
Aren't they SOOO cute?!?!

Hubs has a holiday party at work this weekend and I can't wait to have a date night out with him!  We need to do that more but with working lots of hours and all of the holiday extras, time has been a luxury we just haven't had.  So we should have a great time!  The kiddos are going to Nana and Poppy's for the night so we can just go out and have fun!  I have a killer dress that I can't wait to wear with some cute retro shoes.  I will have to take pics and post them.

I love getting dolled up!  It doesn't happen too often for me cuz I work at home and don't have much occasion to really get gussied up.  Next year my resolution is to work on myself and become the woman on the outside that I feel like I am on the inside so I want to do more for my look and define a style for myself.  This whole past year I had resolved to work on my home and getting my life organized.  I did pretty good this year and feel like I actually fulfilled my resolution (a first!).  So next year its my turn..YAY!

So this weekend I'm gettin' my holiday groove on and taking this last week before the Yule celebrations begin to relax and enjoy my family!

Brightest Blessings!

The Book that got me going...

I.Love.This.Book!  When I felt I needed some guidance in the "getting my life together" department, I found this book and I haven't looked back.  I very much suggest it to anybody trying to get a life system around for a stay-at-home or work-at-home mom.  I have lots and lots of books in my little "library" of household help books, but this one is one I always find myself going back to.  Check it out!

The Domestic Goddess Gabs!

Welcome to my gab corner!

I am Lisa...resident Domestic Goddess.  Since childhood I have had a knack for all things home oriented. As a small girl I helped take care of my 3 younger sisters, cooked meals, helped all I could around the house so my mom could work to support our family. Of course when you're a kid, you think, "why do I have to do this?" But, as a grown up, I am so grateful to have learned all of the skills I did as a child.  So many of my friends and people I have met throughout my early adult life lacked these skills simply because they never had to do them.  I, however, have had my early adult years into my mid 30s to tweak and fine tune skills already having been ingrained in me....so now I feel as though I have an advantage.

I am very eclectic and have a wide range of interests.  I'm sure you will hear about them all at some point in time, but to sum it up...I am a mid 30s work-at-home mom of a 7-year-old boy and a 4-month-old baby girl with a wonderful hubby whom I have been with for almost 20 years.  I love gardening, canning, cooking/baking, organizing, reading, dancing, singing, herbalism, new age ideas and spiritualism, crafts of all kinds (especially scrapbooking), fashion and style, purses, shoes, animals, mother earth, and learning everything I can about anything I can.  I have a constant flow of ideas streaming through my head and there just aren't enough hours in the day to put them all to good use.  Hopefully I can share some really helpful ones here!

So, in a nutshell that is me!  Hope the blog is helpful and fun and maybe I can sort out some of my ideas here so that I can put more of them to good use!

Bright Blessings!
